Anarak is a town in the capital of Anarak District, in Nain County, Isfahan Province of Iran. Its population was 1,285 in 462 families in 2006. It is
situated at an altitude of 1,429 metres (4,688 ft).
Anarak is loctaed at the edge of the “kavir-e-Lut” (Lut Desert) about 75 km from the city of Nain. The town is surrounded by ruins of an old wall and three towers that were built about 100 years ago to keep the bandits out. Due to its climate there is little agriculture in this region but there are many mines located close to Anarak. The people in Anarak speak a dialogue called Anaraki, which is spoken in Anarak and towns and villages within 40 miles of it such as Chopanan.
Anarak’s climate is a typical desert climate with little rainfall, hot dry summer days and cool nights. Most of the old homes are adobe made and have a courtyard; people move from south to north of the courtyard from winter to summer.
